Endocrinologist and surgeon collaboration is required to address them properly. Diagnosis includes a complete ENT clinical assessment, visual inspection and possibly painless, transcutaneous biopsy of the lesion with a fine needle .

If necessary, thyroidectomy is performed in which the gland is partially or totally removed and thyroid hormone replacement therapy is recommended to the patient.
